Proteomics-Workshop in Dortmund, 11th – 14th September 2011

We are happy to announce our annual proteomics workshop at the Leibniz-Institute for Analytical Sciences (ISAS) – again with a balanced mix ranging from theory to practical works. The course will be supported by lectures for which we could win Dr. Martin Larsen (University Odense, Denmark) and Dr. Manfred Wuhrer (LUMC, Leiden, The Netherlands).

The number of participants is limited, since everyone should have the possibility for “hands-on” experience in small working groups.
Currently, we offer the following modules to choose from – however, availability is dependant on sufficient number of participants.
•    Proteomics for beginners (3-4 persons)
•    Multidimensional separations in proteome science (3-4 persons)
•    Introduction into Bioinformatics, held by Prof Dr. Lennart Martens, University Gent (4-8 persons)

Furthermore, there will be two external courses which we can offer to you:

nanoHPLC „hands-on“ and troubleshooting (2 x 5 persons)
Dr. Steffen Liedtke, Dionex

Within this course, experts of Dionex will give you extensive know-how on HPLC operation and troubleshooting. Beginners will have the opportunity to grasp the fundamentals of nanoHPLC separations and experienced operators can follow interesting discussions on specialized problems and innovations. The course encompasses a separate theoretical part.

Troubleshooting and mass spectrometric applications (5 persons)
Dr. Kai Scheffler and Dr. Metelmann-Strupat, Thermo Fisher Scientific

During this block, troubleshooting as well as tips and tricks for LTQ Orbitrap and LTQ Orbitrap Velos systems will be communicated. There will be a special focus on questions and problems from participants’ side – so some experience with those instruments will be of benefit. The course encompasses a theoretical part in form of seminars as well as practical works upon request.
